HEROES Program
ACCA members recognize the need to participate in their community, and provide their knowledge and expertise when and where it is needed. Consequently, in conjunction with the Kentucky National Guard and Army Reserve units, ACCA provides emergency HVAC service to the families of active duty members who are serving overseas. To protect the confidentiality of families who have members deployed, we have agreed not to discuss the details of this program. Suffice it to say that if members of the National Guard or Army Reserve are called to active duty, they do not have to worry about their family losing their HVAC service.
Our Associate Members also contribute to this program by providing free or low-cost replacement parts to qualifying families.
Heat the Country Program
Each fall, ACCA Contractor and Associate Members work together to see that low-income families have properly operating and safe heating equipment. This program, which started with an ACCA chapter in Texas, has now spread through ACCA chapters across the country. On a Saturday in October, service technicians from member contractors meet to assign the targeted homeowners and service their HVAC equipment. Associate members open their supply houses and provide the parts necessary for the equipment to be brought up to a safe level.
Christmas Family
ACCA members work with the Highlands Community Ministries each year to select a family that needs a little help at Christmas. Our members collect toys, books, and games, and see that the family has a fun Christmas. Our Board member emeritus, Sterling Goff, along with his wife Jean, take the family shopping for clothes and groceries. Sterling and Jean then take the family shopping one or two more times during the year. It is always a fun meeting when Sterling brings the family pictures to share with all the members who have contributed during the year.
